Career Planning

One of the most challenging parts of tourism post-secondary education is career planning: knowing where you want to end up, and figuring out how to get there. Thankfully, LinkBC has tools to help you succeed:

The Orange Book of Success

A Freshly Squeezed Career Planning Guide for BC Tourism & Hospitality Students, the Orange Book is intended to help you get the most out of your program and begin a rewarding career in the industry.

Its inspiration was a paper about school-to-work transition, written by Greg Vandeborne, a 2007 Bachelor of Tourism Management graduate from Capilano University. The project was built on a study consisting of a survey with tourism and hospitality graduates and interviews with employers and program coordinators from across BC.

Think of the Orange Book as a guide from grads to all the things they wish they'd known before they finished school.

It's free - and you can click here to download a copy.

BC ATA (Alumni of Tourism Programs)

Launching in fall, 2012

Each year, hundreds of students graduate from tourism, adventure, hospitality, and culinary programs across BC and go on to have rewarding careers in the industry.

What if all these future and current leaders of industry got together in one place? What if we started helping each other succeed?

Starting in fall 2012, LinkBC will be working to bring together the province's alumni and plan the biggest tourism reunion ever. We'll look at ways to connect you through newsletters, mentorship programs, and more.

We'll also invite current students to connect with alumni so the next generation of grads is equipped for success.

Want to participate? Contact morgan(at)linkbc.ca for more information.
