TRU's Adventure Studies "In a class of their own" According to Maclean's

Back To News June 13th, 2012In Maclean's Magazine's 21st  University Rankings edition Thompson Rivers University's adventure studies department was highlighted as one of eight unique programs in Canada.

In an article called "In a class of their own" (click to read) standouts are profiled amongst "programs in which students can pursue their own destinies and determine their own dreams."

These include space engineering, computer games technology, and costume studies, as well as TRU's adventure programs that range from adventure sport certificates to adventure studies majors in the Bachelor of Tourism Management degree.

Says Gilles Valade, adventure department head at TRU: "we've known for years our programs are unique, but it's great to get this level of recognition. As the article describes, our students are engaged in everything from 'heli-skiing, ice climbing, white-water kayaking, and mountaineering' as well as business and entrepreneurship fundamentals."

"We pride ourselves on providing the best level of programs to meet academic and industry needs," adds Valade, "while helping students to pursue their passion and achieve their dreams. It's great to have a national magazine like Maclean's celebrate what we have to offer."

"And they're right -- it is as awesome as it sounds"

The same article appears in the Maclean's 2012 Guide to Canadian Universities, where the Adventure Tourism programs are also profiled as one of three "Standout Programs" at the university.

Congratulations to LinkBC partner TRU and their acclaimed Adventure studies programs!
