Tourism BC's Blogging Challenge: Richmond Speed Skating

A select number of students from LinkBC partner institutions were invited to participate in a blogging challenge at February 16th speed skating events at the iconic Richmond Oval.

A snapshot afrom student blogger "LauraTH".

The challenge read as follows:

So maybe you’ve travelled your whole life and consider yourself an expert. Now you’re learning the nuts and bolts of the industry in some of British Columbia’s highly acclaimed tourism programs.

But with the Olympics the stakes are high – Does destination perception change? Are expectations higher or lower? How does experiencing an Olympic event enhance a tourism experience?

We want you – our experts - to take in an Olympic event and apply the lens of a tourist. And we want you to share your observations by blogging on HelloBC.com, so others interested in British Columbia can benefit from your unique perspective.

Participant Mike Thomey of Capilano University called the event "a great time and the best Olympic experience thus far".

While some of the students are furiously putting the finishing touches on their blogs, enjoy this selection from some early birds who registered their input early:
