Working with San Francisco-based SportsMark Event Management for nearly three years, BCIT's Tourism Marketing program partnered with this award-winning global marketing agency to provide Games-time employment for over 140 marketing students.
BCIT students working with SportsMark to bring sponsor brands to life during the Game.
Leading up to the Games, students received specialized training in Olympic special event management, and gained industry knowledge and experience. During the Games, students had the opportunity to experience first-hand the event marketing process of world-famous brands such as Visa and Omega.
SportsMark works with organizations to leverage their sports sponsorships with critical on-site hospitality programs and special events, produced with marketing objectives and brand image in mind. Their event and sports industry experience has been built on managing global and domestic sponsorship activation, special events, and over 125 corporate hospitality programs at the past eleven Olympic Games, as well as hundreds of other programs at high profile sporting events, including Super Bowl, The Masters, FIFA World Cup™, NCAA Final Four, Ryder Cup, America’s Cup, and U.S. Open.

BCIT Broadcast students also enjoyed special opportunities during the Games, taking positions with a variety of Olympic broadcast companies, with the largest number employed by Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS). Students passed through a series of interviews, security clearances and accreditation, followed by intensive training sessions for their various roles. Other broadcasters to engage BCIT students include NBC, Channel 9 Australia, and CTV/Rogers. Go back
